ABSTRACT: This research explores the impact of early childhood education on young children's understanding of food systems. Introducing food system concepts early can foster a comprehensive understanding of food production, distribution, and consumption. Objectives included evaluating children's knowledge of food systems, identifying effective educational practices, and assessing the long-term benefits of early food system education. A survey design was chosen for its ability to gather comprehensive data. Purposive sampling was employed to select 180 children from preschools in Oyo State, Nigeria. Findings revealed that children exposed to food system education demonstrated a better understanding of how food systems work, including production, distribution, and consumption processes. Effective practices included interactive lessons, hands-on activities, and field trips to farms and food processing facilities. The study recommended incorporating food system education into early childhood programs to foster a comprehensive understanding of food production and distribution from an early age.
